Since I last posted I've got me another doll, the long awaited Chibi!Snape.

And since I haven't posted here in like forever, I thought I should do it properly.

So... under this cut is both the Arrival of Chibi Snape AND some random doll pics.

I guess there isn't many people reading my IJ anymore. Well I can't blame them I guess.. I've been away for a long time, and when I finally post, it's all about dolls.

And so is this post. It's about the arrival of my newest doll, Okoru Onikami...

See, I had a VERY PLEASANT surprise today: The postman rang my door with a parcel from Korea. Now... I knew my next doll had been shipped, and I'd hoped.. but here it was - and the best part: It had evaded the vultures at Customs! So he was just delivered at no extra fees! WOOT! It's the first doll I've had that has slipped under the radar, but money saved is money gained... so...

Anyway, under the cut are pictures from his arrival. It's a small doll once more, one of the 4" ones, same as my Aisho.

His name, Okoru Onikami, means angry devil and that suits him very well! He's the grumpiest doll I've seen. And at the same time totally adorable!

Then came the wait for the rain to stop so I could get the base coat (which is so toxic it HAS to be done outside) on him and get him painted.
And after a few hours, the miracle happened - the rain stopped - and he got his faceup:

Oh and no, he's not the one intended to be my Chibi!Snape. That one has just been shipped today, so I should have him within a week, if all goes well ^_^

MMmmm... TWO grouchy, moody tiny dolls at the same place? This spells trouble methinks...

OK.. it's been a while and then some since I last posted anything here. But well.. I've been busy with my dolls. Playing with them, buying more. Buying things for them... There's a reason why these dolls in collector-circles are known as Resin Crack.. Once you've tried them, you're hooked and want more. And more.

And my latest doll is a very very small one. She makes even Egon seem large. She's 4½ inches tall. And she's got personality the size of a house!

And speaking of house.. I was shopping today, in the local Doll House store (good thing about these tiny dolls: They look fine with the 1:12 doll house stuff) and bought her a bed, a mirror and a book shelf.

And then I realized I needed a place to PUT that - along with whatever I had already bought for her over the past month or so... So I found an almost antique (quite seriously) cardboard box that had once contained apples, cut off one side and started decorating it. Admittedly my patience in such matters are close to zero, and it shows - but at least there is some walls with a kind of wall paper, carpeted floors and - the tiny STUFF!

The pics are taken with my totally worn-out pocket Ixus that has decided that everything should be magenta. So it takes quite a bit of photoshopping to restore the colours to normal. The flash is also too harsh when you're photographing things up close like this.. so.. yeah the pics could be a LOT better, technically. But I felt like showing off my cutesy stuff.

Oh and for those who's afraid I've turned totally pink and cutesy... I HAVE ordered a similar tiny doll whom I'm going to turn into a little angry chibi!Snape... And he will have his own little dungeon and all!

Right.. So I'm no great artist, I know that. But I wanted to see if I could make a head, a doll-sized head.

I had planned to make some cute face, but somehow my fingers wanted otherwise.. interetingly enough I always end up with some large, hooked nose when I'm modelling... And it's been so even before Snape, so he's not the culprit here. Must be something subconscious. Something in my genes...

But here's the first attempt. Still far from finished, I just wanted to show him :)

It's a little "dual coloured" because some of the clay is more dry than other, it's made over two days. When I'm all done with the actual modeling (which will include the back of his head, too, of course) it'll need to be sanded and painted - and wigged and have some eyes ect. And if I'm LUCKY it may even fit on top of one of the doll bodies.. let's see, if he ever gets that far. For now he's just an interesting little pasttime. And GAH! Ears.. why must they be so curly and tricky to make?!

I've had this planned ever since I got my Alan Rickman Minimee doll. And yesterday I finally got this wig. It's not perfect, but.. well..

I have some more ideas regarding my dear Interrogator!Alan and some of them oncompasses another doll as well... But I need to make more props then. And clothes for the girl. So.. not yet :)

BUT.. I've had "fun" turning my Alan Rickman doll into The Interrogator. From the movie Closet Land.

And if you don't know that movie, these pictures will make absolutely NO SENSE at all, I'm afraid...

Something odd happened today. Something very nice, but... odd..

I got a book.

A Japanese cook book.

A very nice, bilingual Japanese cook book.

Thing is.. I haven't ordered that book. I've looked at it several times. Wanted it. But I haven't actually bought it.

So, if anyone has bought it for me (I think there is a wishlist thing on J-list and I may well have placed this on my wishlist at some point. I just don't remember doing so) - please stand forward so I can properly thank you!

I love my little resin friend. And today I went downtown and got some fur, which I made into a tiny wig for him... as well as some lacquer-fabric that was used to make him a pair of pants and a vest... That little guy dresses better than me by now ;)

Anyway.. one thing led to another. And seeing a squirrel in lacquer led to BEER...

Uhm yeah.. I've got myself another doll today. And NOT a Potter-themed one even... Well I saw this squirrel (and yes it's a squirrel and not a chipmunk, and no it's name is NOT Alvin...) and immediately when I saw it, I knew I HAD to own it - even if it's so far from my other dolls in style... and even if I until this moment couldn't see the idea in anthro-dolls at all...

So..er.. well... Without further ado.. say hello to Egon(e) - I'm not QUITE sure if it's a he or a she just yet...

OK first of all.. WHY Hermione of all people? Well.. Mostly because I wanted a girl-doll I could sew girly stuff for. And I thought I might as well stick to the Potterverse... and then... Hermione is, all things considered, the most tolerable girl in that pantheon. (unfortunately, that's not saying much)

We have an open air museum where I live. With old houses collected from all over the country. Great place for photos. My biggest problem was actually that the whole place is covered in cobblestones, and dolls do NOT want to stand on cobblestones. So there isn't as many pictures as I would have liked, but a few anyway. With Severus' comments...

Herbology has never been my thing, you know. And these aren't even poisonous..

This afternoon hubby and I went to the local Botanica Garden, where they have a large hothouse for all kinds of tropical plants. And since I'd been wanting to take some pictures of Harry for a while, I brought him along, much to the gardeners' amazement *L*

Er.. uhm. So.. Harry got his eyes today!

And they're green! A very lovely, glittery green. They're also very dark, so it's a little hard to see. But they're there, they're green and I love them to bits *L*

Soooo I had to take some pictures of Harry, now that he's officially "finished" - and.. well, since the whole idea of getting a Harry in the first place was to get Snape some..er.. company.. Well...

Oh and don't worry. IMO the pictures are totally worksafe. But someone with better knowledge of the new draconian rules of LJ.. please tell me if they would be forbidden to post "over there" - because I frankly can't make heads or tails of their rules, and I'm just not going to risk a total deletion of my LJ. As much as I dislike places with such "we'll tell you what to think" mentality... I still have a lot of nice comments and such I'd hate to lose.

But anyway, I hope I can safely post them here, so...

Harry Potter breaking curfew... again [Doll pics]

Just because.. Snape isn't my only doll so here's a little bit of Harry pics...

Today I got the glasses I'd ordered for my Harry. And I was out shopping for fabric so I could sew him a robe and a (somewhat) proper Gryffindork tie.

So yes, I've been busy. And of course I had to take some pics of the finished result. Thing is, it had started to get dark so ... well even with a very light sensitive lens I still had to cheat and use the flash. So I photoshopped them a bit to take away the glare and such...

All that is missing now is his green eyes, and they're on their way from Mimiwoo... so.. soon Harry will be properly Harry Potter :)

Right.. So I feel a compulsion to take portraits of my beautiful Alan Rickman doll... It's almost (ALMOST, mind you!) as good as the real thing...

So here's a few new pictures of my lovely boy.. no wait. MAN. Definitely a man!

And a few extras from yesterday when I was visiting snapelike and Severus got a Room with a View... (or perhaps he's doing a balcony-scene? Hm..)

I wonder if it's possible to fall in love with a doll?!

EVEN MORE Alan Rickman Doll-spam - now with colours!

Right... I had a plan that was to do the faceup tomorrow while visiting snapelike - but.. I couldn't wait. Besides, it's a tad messy to do faceups, what with pastel powder flying everywhere. And I'd like to be able to visit again some other time ;)

So I did the faceup. It took a while to give the head a colour that matched the body, luckily I managed to mix the right colour in first go, and then it was just to blush it on, just like putting facial powder on actually. I DID forget the fact that the MSC sealer spray makes colours a little darker, so he's a tiny bit too dark in the head compared to the neck.. but at least it's the same overall nuance... And the head looks quite ok on the Dollzone body. I've also got an idea of what to do with Sevvie's head. Once I execute it I'll upload it for you to see ;)

Of course I took Harry outside with me, too. I don't want him to feel left out :)

But enough with the talk. Let's get some pictures:

OK. So I beheaded my Sevvie doll to see if Alan's head would fit at all. It will. His neck is a little too long, so I'm considering sanding it down some. But for now I'm just disguising it with the collar ;)

And he still hasn't got his faceup done, but the weather was so gorgeous and now that I could actually dress him and everything.. I just HAD to take him outside for a few photos...

As it's probably obvious, I had some fun in Photoshop afterwards. The doll itself is so pale that it ended up pretty washed out against the dark clothes. So some contrast- & colour correction was necessary.

OK. I'm in love with a resin head! After some confusion at the post office (the idiots had delivered the parcel not on our own post office but one a few miles further away... - luckily I had sent hubby on the Pick-Up task, while I was at work, and he wouldn't risk coming home without my head two days in a row!

Ooh the box! Opened by the greedy customs, who ended up charging me $73!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! extra - for a $95 head! *GRRRR*

And inside the box a lovely letter from ARoseFormo who did a great job at running the Group Order! - oh and a box with a bubble wrapped head.

The head, still in the bubble wrap. Yes it's a little blurry.. I was not in a patient mood, I just wanted to rip it open and look at Alan, ok?

First.. if you're feeling a sense of deja vu it may just be because you've seen this on my LJ ;)

Sooooo I was checking the tracking number on my Raam, and finally it dawned on me to use the danish site instead of the Korean one, who had him still in customs. And lo and behold: He was AT OUR POSTOFFICE!
Needless to say, I rushed out of the door as soon as the ordinary mailman had been there with the customs bill. And MORE WOOT! Instead of the 7-800DKK I had been prepared to pay, he was only taxed 120DKK (less than $20!)

The explanatioin to that came when I had opicked up the parcel: The value on it was listed as "Doll, US$ 45" So yay for "cheap" dolls!

HELP! I CAN'T SEE

Trekkie's Train Tales... A Good Night's Sleep...

Last night, I was working.

Pretty normal shift really, 8 - 3:35. Except we're talking 8 PM to 3:35 AM...

BUT.. I love working night, so IMO that's the best shift there is! People are usually very easy to handle (they're asleep, mostly) and the majority of them is on their way home from something like a night out or similar. Which means they're typically in a very genial mood.

There's just one thing.. the sleep thing...

Because... We're NOT on the train to remember where everybody is supposed to get off - so *IF* people fall asleep.. it's their own responsibility to wake up in time to get off where ever they were supposed to get off the train.

And last night.. there was this guy who didn't:

Now... To make this a little more understandable for those not accustomed to Danish geography, I've attached this map:

So.. This guy, who was traveling on First Class, was already sound asleep when I boarded the train at Fredericia (on the map that's where the red and green line meet) so I didn't think much about him, reckoning he knew where and when to get up and out.

So, after little more than one hour, the train reaches its terminus, at Aarhus, where I happen to live. So.. When I go through the train to check for leftover luggage and/or passengers, this guy (a man I'd say in his mid fifties) was still there. Still sleeping like a log.

The driver was with me, and we got him stirred to life. And he looked at me, confused (as you typically are when just awoken) - and his words were: "Fredericia? Pattburg? Deutschland?" (translated, from German.. poor tourists...: Fredericia (the station where he should have changed train, the spot where the red and green lines meet) Padborg (the border-station) Germany?

Poor bugger was bound for Germany and had now ended up in the opposite direction. At least this train didn't go any further, some trains continue all the way to Aalborg, 1½ hour further north...

To his luck, the early morning train towards Copenhagen (and Fredericia once more) was just about to depart, so I could point him towards that and ..er.. get rid of him.. that way...

But.. honestly it was pretty hilarious.. I felt bad for the poor german of course, but at the same time it was ..snicker-worthy >:o)

So.. the lesson here: DON'T take the night train without some sort of alarm to wake you up in proper time for you to reach the right destination ;o))

(or at least place a note on yourself with a "please wake me up at ...", because the crew changes several times though the trip so don't count on the person who saw your ticket to also be there when you should get up and out)
