Happy Easter (Doll picspam)

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
Today was the day for the traditional easter lunch at the in-laws (yes, today is a holiday, here)

And since Little Kid got her doll yesterday, AND I wanted to use the oopportunity to photograph Sevvie in different surroundings, we brought the dolls... Needless to say the rest of the family were staring at us (OK .. me!) with the "lost final marble" look...

Oh well. Their loss...

Below the cut is some of the pics that were taken. And yes, we had FUN! (even if Sevvie smashed his nose and had to get emergency nose-surgery... I'd planned to sand him down anyway.. just not with a nail file...

Dina and Sevvie re enacting the classic "Damsel in distress being chased across a moor, wearing only fluttering nightgowns, followed by tall, dark, mysterious man"

Sevvie, posing. Moments before his fatal faceplant...

When I saw that armoire at my mother in law I knew it would be the PERFECT background for pictures...

Dina (Little Kid's doll) being beautiful!

Happy Easter from Dina!

Happy Easter, Sevvie!

Sevvie being emo because Ace (Big Kid's doll) has been on vacation all week...
  • Aw... I love the black/white piccies! They look so alive in those.
    • I agree. There's something very special about monochrome pictures. I've also always found it a great way of making my renders seem more "real" - turns out it works for the dolls as well :)

I think the reason is that when it's black and white, you KNOW you're looking at a *photo* not something that's supposed to be happening in front of your eyes. And when you know it's a picture, you deploy certain emotions and views. And I think that's why they seem more "real" despite the lack of colours.
  • Love the pictures! I have a major weakness for black and white pictures, or sepia. They just seem to catch emotions better. And that armoire is really gorgeous.

Little Kid's doll is really pretty! And she sort of shares a name with one of mine. Though my 'Dina is marginally male.
    • :o) Thanks!

It's funny with the armoire, buecause obviously I've know it for years.. but when I say it today, it was in "Doll Vision" and I just knew I'd hid jackpot!

The fact that there was a small table with a rug-like table cloth on it that had just the right height, too.. was just fate telling me it was MEANT to be used like that *L*

And oh? You have a Dina? Male Dina even? I was very surprised when my kid picked thatname, because it's very unusual (and she haven't read Dina's Book) - but I had to agree with her, Dina fits that doll very well!

It's a very lovely doll. Unfortunately VERY yellowed (french resin, bought second hand...) but her face ect. is so adorable that you're willing to instantly forget about the yellowing.
      • Yeah, dolls do make you look very differently at things. I tend to go shopping at recycle stores and what not with my dolls specifically in mind. They have taken over my room. *chuckles*

Yep, I do actually have a 'Dina, though in his case, it is short for Adinael, hence the weird apostrophe. I've always loved the name Dina, and I haven't actually read that book, either. I should; we do own it. Mine is male, but only because that doll body fit the character better than the female. The character is technically asexual.

She looks really lovely. A little too small for my tastes, I tend to favour the 60+ cm dolls, but definitely lovely.
        • I agree on the size. I thought she was closer to a normal sized (60cm) doll. I can't wait to see her with Ace once he returns home from his easter vacation later today. She looks a little odd with Sevvie, I hope at least with Ace it would look more "right".

She's so adorable though (despite her SEVERE yellowing.. I think she has been left in a window or something *ick*) I've got some advise as to how to deal with the yellowing.. but she's still wearing the factrory faceup and it's really really beautiful... so..

At first I think I'll try it on her hands. They're very yellow. I can always attempt to blush the face lighter and "just" bleach the body... Let's see...
(gah! that will mean taking her apart though.. and I'm NOT sure I can put her back together again >_
  • I love your sevie doll. Its just so beautiful. Not really a word JK would want to use to describe him but there you go. I love the top one, It struk me as very Whithering Heights for some reason, and the one in the garden is just I love it. Nice.
    • LOL! If you check the picture's link you will see it's called "StormfuldeHojder.jpg" wich is that title in danish. So yopu're not the only one to get that association :o))

And JKR never even bothered to understand Severus. Her loos as far as I'm concerned.

No he's not beautiful by any standard measures. But luckily some can see beyond the outer shell, or a LOT of people would never find a mate *L*
      • Well I don't speak Danish so I totally missed that! Yes, its strange that the person that created him, dosen't seem to even comprehend the depth of the 'person' she created. Sad really. I so want your icon.
  • That armoire is stunning. Beautiful, perfect. But I hope you won't allow that bitch... eerrrr I mean Dina to touch Sevvie?
    I don't like her *jealous*
    Sevvie needs his Harry.
    Happy Easter :)
    • Hehehe. Sevvie tolerates her. She's a sweet little thing. But she's also female. And Sevvie doesn't do females ;)

Happy easter to you, too :o)
  • Love EMO Sevvie! ^_______^

    BTW, Dina is gorgeous.
