Sevvie @ Work... (Doll picspam again)

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
Today I was going to meet another Doll-o-holic after work, so I figured if I had to bring Sevvie along all day, he might as well see where I worked. It was a lot more fun than just leaving him in my locker at work..

So here's Sevvie in a train :o)

Ah so this is where you work? The Hogwarts Express is much prettier...

Coffee? You know I do prefer tea!

Next station is... er...uhm... What's the next station? Where are we?!

What a nice torch. Not quite as handy as the Lumos spell but it'll do for Muggles I suppose

Let's see what we can make the train's displays say...

You know.. I think I could get used to this job.

Now where are we?

Odense? BRRR! Is this on the north pole? It's freezing here.

Nice landscape. A little flat. But nice.

Flat flat flat.. don't you have *any* mountains here?

Ooh but water! Look! a bridge!

More coffee? Can't a guy get a decent cup of tea here?

  • I love him with the phone! And the paper! *GG* Great pictures, dear. I do wish I could afford to make a Harry or Draco (or both, dammit!)
    • Heh yeah too bad they're so insanely priced :(

I'm torn between getting a Lucius or a Harry next. At the moment I'm leaning towards a Lucius, because Kid's doll *can* double as a Harry... but OMG it's a neverending spiral of expenses, this *LOL*
      • *giggle* Yeah, it's expensive. Which is why I'd stick to just one or two if I ever did it.
        • Actually.. the dolls from DollZone(where I bought Sevvie) is slightly more affordable than most other doll companies.

And they have very nice dolls, too. I can't really find one that would be a convincing Harry (at least not as I imagine him) but a Lucius? Certainly. He's next on my wishlist...

Hmm.. Was just browsing the site.. Perhaps Mo would do as a Draco? He's not expensive, really... (at least not compared to most other dolls)
          • Mo there is a convincing Draco, I'd say. I'll have to look around for a Harry. Thing is, with him it's more of a stretch of imagination than with Draco. Draco is, after all, pointy, while I always imagine Harry more angular - something that isn't often seen with BJD dolls. I'll look around the site and perhaps return with suggestions *S*
            • Be sure to look for the 1/4 dolls then (I think they're the ones also referred to as MSD's) as that's the size of "Draco" (45cm)

And that means that you would be able to - in time - get "adult" dolls at 60 cm (that's what I need my *harry* to be, since Sevvie is 70cm tall)

As long as you keep to pretty much the same size, it shouldn't be a problem. And both MSD and SD 845 and 60 cm) are VERY popular and thus fairly available :)

I'll keep an eye out for an angular MSD, because I do agree, Draco is "pointy" but Harry is more overall angular :)
              • I looked around and I have a candidate for a 60 cm Harry, actually. With a different wig he'd do fine. It's Saka.

I also found an acceptable in 1/4 (45 cm) Megi and an alternative Draco, too, Ray . Again, both need wig changes, but imagine the first with black hair and the second with white. (Too bad Megi has dark eyes. I haven't seen any Harry-greens yet. But I'm guessing that might be customisable, too.)

It's their expressions that do it for me. Megi is open and a bit more angular, as I said, while Ray is closed, arrogant and pointed enough to be a convincing Draco.
                • I looked at Ray and tried to imagine him with blond hair. And failed *LOL* It's AMAZING how much difference the hair and eyes make (and yes, you can get eyes in all SORTS of colours! - both ice blue and vivid green ;) ) I changed Sevvie's eyes from a bland brown to a DEEP brown. He (as almost every doll) is delivered with "random eyes" - it was a sheer coincidense that he was even delivered with brown eyes in the first place - I had bought some dark brown eyes that arrived before the doll *LOL*)

Take a look at Ying's default look:http://www.doll-zone.com/showproduct.asp?id=47 - believe it or not, that's my Sevvie! So yes. Hair and eyes (and faceup and - partially - the resin colour - makes a HUGE difference! Personally I would probably order Draco in White Skin and Harry in Normal Pink (Sevvie is AFAIK "Normal Pink") to get the slight contrast between the boys :)

Oh and did I ever mention that there's a shop in Australia who specializes in doll...er.... well have a look: http://moggie.mine.nu/shop/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=7 ;)
                  • LOL! It helps if you look at the page with heads and just focus on the shape of the face :-)

I just found a German site with a wig I'd use for Harry. I'd definitely go for different skintones on the boys, yes. And I think I'd have to get a Harry first, because, you know, he's the one who lives in my head ;-)

Oh! Doll!kink!!! :-D Fab! (But if I can make human-sized gear I should be able to make doll-sized as well. And the bondage gear goes on Draco ;-) )
                    • Ooooh if you CAN make doll-sized kinky gear you may just have found a way to pay for your dolls x10!

Seriously.. people will pay though the nose for stuff for their dolls (why do you think I'm actually, for the first time ever, doing an effort to learn to sew?!) and since Moogie is the ONLY supplier of kinky doll stuff... welll...... You might as well print your own money then!

If you're even considering this, do sign up at http://www.denofangels/forums/ because as far as I can tell it's THE biggest doll forum out there - AND there's a marketplace as well, but - to deter scammers and people who are recently banned - there's a "minimum 40 posts and 25 day's membership" before you can even SEE the Marketplace (I'm 6 or 7 days short of gaining access... weee!)

And I have an idea for a possible niche item that MAY spout some money for me. So as soon as I'm able to ascertain that no one has already got the same brilliant idea as me, I'll start producing it ;) (I'm not telling outright what it is, but it's something that WOULD go very well with some of the kinky stuff *LOL*)
                      • I'll have to look at my stuff and see what I can do *G* I'll consider the forum, but I'm not sure I'm up for that much activity. Hm. Must think.

But I just found THE most perfect Harry and Draco. But they're of course insanely expensive ;-) And 70cm...!
                        • Ooooh do tell! There's not all that many 70 cm dolls... Are these DollZone dolls? I have Cloud pinpointed for my Lucius.. Could be rather funny if he's your Draco, too ;)
                          • No, I went trawling. I have a link to an acquaintance's site (www.gigglegeek.dk/bjd) with an index to doll sites.

                            Good ones I've found:
Look at Mars and Mercury here - the ones with the basic name are nicest:
                            http://www.buddy-doll.com/shop/step_submain.php?b_code=B20070515043517

A couple of these boys might work, too. They're 60 cm:
                            http://www.dimdoll.com/

And this lovely man is 63 cm and would be a great Harry, too:
                            http://www.iplehouse.net/shop/step1.php?number=780
                            • Ooh yes. Mars Tough is a CLEAR candidate for my Snape. BuddyDoll's dolls are so lovely. Quite a bit more expensive than DollZone's dolls of course, but absolutel lovely.

DollInMind are some of the dolls I haven't really paid close attention to, so far. But yes. VERY nice! Edmond might work for a Harry. And of course they have their MiniMee... (and WAAAAAAAAAAH Alan Rickman *is* already taken which means there's probably 10 buyers for that already.. and.. I WANT HIM!!!)

Ipplehouse's Barron is GORGEOUS! Unfortunately I keep associating that kind of nose with Ron... But yeah. Lovely sculpt!

Check out http://abjd.proboards43.com/ - Resin Garden. Danish doll forum where you don't NEED to be a member (though of course it's appreciated and you'll gain access to the OT forum, too ;) ) GiggleGeek is a member there (as am I - obviously) - lots of links and advise!

                              • I just fell for "plain" Mars for Harry. And Mercury would make a lovely Draco :-)

I'm more fond of BuddyDolls and IpleHouse, too ;-)
Barron looks very close to how I imagine Harry, so he's very, very tempting! But choices, choices... and the fact that I can't afford them anyway for the foreseeable future ;-)
  • I love that you too him on the train with you!!! How awesome. I adore trains anyway but these are wonderful and of course Severus looks fantastic.
    • Heheh. I had intirely TOO much fun bringing him with me to work. Admittedly, I was too much of a chicken to do it all openly.. I did keep him in a bag while on the platform and such (I really must remedy that!) but he was feeling quite at home in my little compartment.

And I love trains. Even if I work in them and ride them on a daily basis, I do love trains. Trains have *something* that no other means of transportation can even attempt to come close.
  • His outfit is adorable. and I love him looking out the window, so pensive. *g*
    • Thanks! He more or less posed himself looking out of the window (it may sound daft but these dolls *do*pose themselves to some degree due to their overall with and stringing/jointing)

the most amazing thing I'¨ve found with Sevvie is that he seems to alter facial expression. Logically I know it's an illusion... but there are times where he definitely smiles, and times where he looks distinctively SAD.
      • I beleive you. I was majorly obsessed with V for Vendetta. They didnt use any CGI on the mask, but it's expression changes throughout the film.
        • Heh I have a .... uhm.. backup copy... of that movie.. but I've never actually sen it. I guess I should :)
  • Great pictures! Wow, the "Flat flat flat.. don't you have *any* mountains here?" pic is amazing, he actually changed his facial expression!
    • It's really amazing how much angles and lightning decides these dolls' expressions. The day these pics were taken I was meeting up with another lady from here who also collects ABJDs and she was willing to swear that Sevvie *smiled* at her at some point! I suppose that's what freak some people out about these dolls *G*
